C., cuando el \u00faltimo de los reyes, Tarquinio el Soberbio, fue expulsado y la monarqu\u00eda fue abolida. Durante cinco siglos existi\u00f3 un sistema pol\u00edtico de base aristocr\u00e1tica con componentes democr\u00e1ticos y tendencias olig\u00e1rquicas, que entr\u00f3 en crisis durante el siglo I a. C.<\/p>\n<p>En esa crisis desempe\u00f1aron un papel importante las ambiciones personalistas de determinados pol\u00edticos, pero tambi\u00e9n fue relevante el factor ideol\u00f3gico. La consecuencia fue la violencia social que existi\u00f3 durante el periodo, en particular las sucesivas guerras civiles que desangraron Roma.
